This policy provides general terms that may apply to renovation, cabinetry, cabinet refinishing, refacing, countertop and related services provided by Kitchen4Less. Project-specific quotations, contracts, approved drawings, selections and written change orders form part of the agreement for a particular project. If a project-specific written agreement conflicts with this policy, the project-specific agreement will govern to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in this policy limits rights or warranties that cannot legally be excluded under Ontario law.
1. Scope and Project Documents
Only work, materials and services specifically identified in the accepted written quotation or contract are included. Renderings, photographs, samples and preliminary discussions are illustrative unless expressly incorporated into the written scope. Additional or different work must be documented and may affect price and schedule.
2. Custom Orders, Cabinets, Doors and Third-Party Manufacturing
Kitchen4Less may source, order, manufacture, fabricate, finish or arrange for cabinets, cabinet doors, drawer fronts, panels, fillers, trim, millwork, countertops, hardware and other products through independent manufacturers, suppliers, fabricators, finishers and service providers. Some or all custom manufacturing may therefore be performed outside Kitchen4Less facilities.
Custom products are made to project specifications and may be subject to reasonable manufacturing tolerances and normal variations in dimensions, colour, sheen, grain, texture, pattern, edge profile or finish. Once an approved custom product has entered production, changes, cancellations, returns or refunds may be unavailable or may result in additional charges, subject to applicable consumer rights.
If an issue originates with a third-party manufacturer or supplier, Kitchen4Less may coordinate or assist with the applicable inspection, remake, replacement or manufacturer warranty process. Kitchen4Less is not responsible for third-party delays, manufacturing defects or events outside its reasonable control except to the extent responsibility cannot legally be excluded.
3. Subcontractors and Specialized Trades
Kitchen4Less may use or coordinate qualified independent trades and subcontractors for portions of a project, including plumbing, electrical, stone fabrication, delivery, installation and specialty work. The applicable quotation or contract should identify subcontracted work where required. Work performed by a third party remains subject to the applicable written scope, trade requirements, manufacturer terms and law. Nothing in this section excludes responsibility that applicable law places on Kitchen4Less.
4. Timelines, Scheduling and Delays
Project schedules and anticipated completion dates are good-faith estimates unless a written agreement expressly states otherwise. Schedules may change because of supplier or manufacturer production, backorders, damaged or incorrect shipments, remakes, material shortages, delivery interruptions, inspection or permit timing, trade availability, customer-requested changes, site conditions, weather, emergencies or other circumstances outside reasonable control.
A supplier remake, replacement part or correction may extend the project timeline. Kitchen4Less will make reasonable efforts to communicate material schedule changes. A delay caused by circumstances outside reasonable control does not by itself establish defective workmanship or abandonment of the project, subject to applicable law and the project agreement.
5. Natural Movement of Cabinets, Doors, MDF and Wood
Wood, MDF and other cabinet materials respond to temperature and humidity. Expansion, contraction, minor shrinkage, swelling, movement at joints, slight warping or hairline finish lines can occur over time. Painted five-piece doors and joined components may reveal fine lines at joints as materials move seasonally. These conditions are not automatically evidence of a manufacturing or finishing defect.
Customers are responsible for maintaining reasonable indoor temperature and humidity and promptly addressing leaks, excessive moisture or water exposure.
6. Cabinet Painting and Refinishing
Refinishing improves the appearance of existing cabinetry but does not make existing cabinetry structurally new. Existing grain, dents, previous repairs, substrate irregularities, damaged boxes, warped components, water damage, prior coatings or other pre-existing conditions may affect the final result. Grain filling reduces visible grain but may not eliminate every trace.
Colour and sheen can appear different under changing lighting. Touch-ups, replacement components and separately finished pieces may have minor visual differences. Normal wear, impact damage, water or steam damage, harsh chemicals, improper cleaning, excessive humidity and later work by others are not workmanship defects.
7. Countertops and Stone
Quartz and other countertop materials may contain normal variations in pattern, shade and appearance. Seams may be visible and their location can be influenced by slab dimensions, access, fabrication requirements and site conditions. Walls, cabinets and floors that are not square, level or plumb can affect fit and installation. Final fabrication may require field measurements after cabinetry is installed.
8. Measurements, Appliances and Customer Approvals
Customers must provide accurate final appliance specifications and promptly approve layouts, colours, door styles, hardware, countertop selections and other required choices. Changes after approval or production may require a change order, additional cost and additional time. Customer-supplied measurements are relied upon only where the written agreement expressly provides for them.
9. Concealed and Existing Conditions
Unless specifically included, pricing does not include concealed conditions that could not reasonably be identified before work begins, such as hidden plumbing or electrical issues, rot, moisture, mold, hazardous materials, structural deficiencies, undocumented previous work, damaged walls, substantially uneven surfaces or code-related corrective work. If discovered, Kitchen4Less will identify the issue where reasonably possible and additional work will be addressed through an appropriate written change to the project.
10. Customer-Supplied Materials
Kitchen4Less is not responsible for defects, shortages, compatibility problems, incorrect specifications, manufacturer delays or warranty administration for products purchased directly by the customer, except for loss or damage caused by Kitchen4Less for which it is legally responsible. Additional labour caused by unsuitable or incomplete customer-supplied products may be chargeable if agreed.
11. Change Orders and Additional Work
Work outside the accepted scope, including customer-requested modifications or additional work required because of newly discovered conditions, should be approved in writing before proceeding. Approved changes may alter both the project price and schedule. Nothing in this policy authorizes Kitchen4Less to exceed an estimate contrary to applicable Ontario consumer-protection requirements.
12. Access and Worksite Conditions
The customer must provide reasonable access to the work area at agreed times and remove or protect personal belongings as requested. Renovation work can involve dust, noise, vibration and temporary interruptions to kitchen, plumbing or electrical use. Kitchen4Less will take reasonable precautions, but a completely dust-free or disruption-free renovation environment cannot be guaranteed.
13. Warranty and Service
Any Kitchen4Less workmanship warranty is limited to the period and coverage stated in the customer’s written quotation, contract or warranty documentation. Manufacturer-supplied products may carry separate manufacturer warranties governed by the manufacturer’s terms. Warranty coverage does not extend to normal wear and tear, misuse, impact, neglect, improper cleaning, water or moisture damage, excessive humidity, structural or seasonal movement, pre-existing conditions, customer modifications, or work performed or altered by others, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Warranty concerns should be reported promptly with photographs and reasonable access provided for inspection. Kitchen4Less may determine an appropriate repair, adjustment, replacement or other remedy consistent with the applicable agreement, manufacturer warranty and law.
14. Permits, Inspections and Code Requirements
Responsibility for permits and inspections will be determined by the written project agreement. Unless expressly included in the scope, customers should not assume permit fees, engineering, drawings or municipal approvals are included.
15. Pricing, Deposits and Payments
Pricing, deposits and payment milestones are established in the written quotation or contract. Custom orders may require funds to be committed to suppliers once production begins. Failure to make an agreed payment may affect ordering or scheduling, subject to the project agreement and applicable law.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kitchen4Less is not responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from delays, unavailable materials, third-party supplier events or conditions outside its reasonable control. This provision does not exclude or limit liability, consumer rights, statutory warranties or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
17. Governing Law and Severability
This policy and applicable Kitchen4Less project agreements are governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
18. Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy waives or limits rights or remedies that a consumer has under applicable legislation and that cannot legally be waived or limited. Customers should review their written quotation or contract carefully before approving a project.
19. Contact
